FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS "CAMP"
Who is the camp for?
The camp is for children 5 to 12 years old. Every camper must be comfortable swimming in water depths that exceed his or her height.
When does it start?
The first week of camp is the first full week in June. It runs for 8 consecutive weeks, ending the last week of July. The camp runs Monday through Friday from 8:45am to 3:30pm. Before Care and After Care are each available for an additional charge. Please see the camp information for the dates of the weekly sessions, and a breakdown of daily camp activities. Camp DOES run on the 4th of July.
What do the children learn?
They are taught swimming stroke technique, basic diving skills, and basic trampoline skills by highly qualified instructors.
How big are the groups?
There are typically 10 kids per group and 2 counselors per group. We also have 3 lifeguards on duty at all times.
What do the kids do for lunch?
Children can either bring a sack lunch or money to purchase food in the food court. The kids eat their lunches inside the UM Food Court. Hurricane Aquatics provides pizza on Fridays for all campers.
How much does it cost?
The price of the camp is $225 per week. We do offer a discount for siblings, multi-week sign up, and children of UM employees. Please see the camp information for full explanation of discounts.
How do I register?
You can register on our website www.hurricaneaquatics.net. If you do not have internet access, please call our office at (305) 284-4713.
Can I sign my child up for 3 days per week or half-days of camp? No. Our camp is run on a week-to-week basis. Our staff members are employed for full weeks based on the numbers of swimmers each week. You are always welcome to register your swimmer(s) for full weeks and then make special arrangements to pick them up early or miss days at your loss..
